 University Tradition: The Annual “Pride Bowl” game held at campus at the Kean University in Union is the sole fundraiser of Newark-based Project Pride, which from its proceeds has awarded $1.7 million in scholarship aid to 1,074 Newark kids and has put roughly $4 million into after-school programs for the city's elementary school students. The group accepts no federal funding, and its executive director and staff are volunteers. After four seasons of Army vs. Navy in the famous Annual Pride Bowl Game, the 2007 game featured the Navy against Cornell University.Half-time is usually just as entertaining as the game with a mix of Hip Hop and other music played by a local high school band. With the school’s dance team performing their breath taking dance moves, the crowd is always on its feet. |
