University Tidbits:
The school has changed its name five times since opening:
• Southwest Texas State Normal School (1903–1918)
• Southwest Texas State Normal College (1918–1923)
• Southwest Texas State Teachers College (1923–1959)
• Southwest Texas State College (1959–1969)
• Southwest Texas State University (1969–2003)
• Texas State University-San Marcos (Since 2003)

My favorite memory was in 2003 when Texas Tech played Texas A&M in College Station with kickoff at 1pm in September. We might as well have been in Hell! It was so damn HOT that our tennis shoes were melting to the metal bleachers. Kyle Stadium is a HUGE 3-wall beast that traps the air preventing anyone to breathe, much less keep cool. Everyone STANDS the entire game and with Tech throwing 70+ plays, the game goes 4-5 hours. A&M sits the visitors on the East endzones facing West and the HEAT! God Almighty it was pure HELL! But the memory of Tech coming back down 24 pts and winning in TWO OTs was incredible!. But the BEST part was the sportsmanship the A&M people showed the visitors after the game. Top Class all the way. Way a day and what memories.

I chose Texas State as my team name To let everyone know I LOVE Texas and Texas Football. There is NO OTHER sport in Texas....only football... Peewee to Pros! Secondly, Texas State is where my first daughter graduated. It's a nice school, good colors and the fans love the game!
