Pledging With Nate

9/28/08 - What is wrong with the former "powerhouse divisions" of College Football - the Pac-10 and the Big 10? Years ago the Rose Bowl was THE premiere match up in college football on New Years Day. It was the winner of the Pac-10 versus the Big 10 - and more times than not it was a pretty competitive game. Nowadays, the Big 10 is a joke. They play tough inside their division - but get blown out when they play games outside the division. PSU should walk away with the Big 10 title, however, they are not a serious option in the BCS and the winner of the Big 10 shouldn't be considered a National Championship Contender. The Pac-10 is in worse shape than the Big 10. USC used to be the cream of the crop and showed how dominant they could be against Ohio State (or just showed how bad Ohio State is) and then they go out and lay an egg against mighty Oregon State. Impressive. USC has an upcoming match up against division leader Oregon - and that will be a gut check game to see if they deserve their spot for a BCS game. I miss the days of old when Michigan, Ohio State, USC, and UCLA used to be the most feared teams in the leagues. Now they are just punchlines.
