Its Legit (1/13/08)The NCAA has just finished their probing of Kean University after allegations of breaking various recruiting rules. Speculation started after the Cougars were able to turn a disasterous 2006 season into a satisfying 5-5-1 record this year. Coach RoseAnn was able to guide her team near the top of the BCS rankings and into its first ever bowl game. "Just because a woman coaches this team, does not mean I cannot win games!" University officials were pleased to hear the news early this morning that all of these charges were deemed unfounded by the NCAA. Kean continues to battle Princeton for star New Jersey recruits and now seems to have an edge in the area.  University Tradition: The Annual “Pride Bowl” game held at campus at the Kean University in Union is the sole fundraiser of Newark-based Project Pride, which from its proceeds has awarded $1.7 million in scholarship aid to 1,074 Newark kids and has put roughly $4 million into after-school programs for the city's elementary school students. The group accepts no federal funding, and its executive director and staff are volunteers. After four seasons of Army vs. Navy in the famous Annual Pride Bowl Game, the 2007 game featured the Navy against Cornell University.Half-time is usually just as entertaining as the game with a mix of Hip Hop and other music played by a local high school band. With the school’s dance team performing their breath taking dance moves, the crowd is always on its feet. |
