College Football Memory (7/30/08) My favorite college football story involves my father and I on our trip to the great northwest, Seattle. It was going to be a fantastic weekend with Giants on Sunday and a college game on Saturday between PAC-10 teams the Washington Huskies vs. Oregon Ducks. Washington had Lawery Milloy playing for them and and on the other side, Oregon and their Godawful yellow jerseys with Alex Molden. Milloy went on to play with the Patriots & Bills. Molden played for the Saints. We get to the stadium and park single file one car right behind the other. We decide that we want to see where the students hang out before the game and we needed tickets so we are going to scalp. Across from the stadium is the team store, and its packed with fans. Washington has really nice uniforms and colors. I get a stocking hat with a big purple W on it. We make our way to the stadium and it is your typical overcast, slight rain, chilly day in Seattle. Dad and I got our overcoats on with hats and gloves. Hour before kickoff. The bands are playing, fans are filling in and I beginning scalping or try to scalp tickets. No one wants to sell me tickets. No one. "You're a cop!" I had one guy convinced that I arrested him last year. "C'mon man, same coat, same hat." I had to show the guy my license that I was from New Jersey and I was here to see the Giants play the Seahawks tomorrow. We got in just as the National Anthem was playing. End zone seats and one of the worst stadiums I have ever been in. It was falling apart all around us. I thought I was Frank Morris chipping pieces of concrete under our metal benches. Washington stormed ahead and was up I think by 17 at half only to lose to the Ducks by 10 it was like watching two games. Giants lost the next day too with Dave Brown having his best game as a pro for the Giants, which isn't saying much.
