LEAGUE RULES
1.0Each player chooses a non-Division 1A school to represent themselves. Each week, players will play head to head. Wins, losses, and ties will figure into standings.
2.0A player may become a Dean for a particular Division 1-A conference. Deans are responsible for choosing weekly games for all the participants. A maximum of 12 games will be used each week. Depending on the number of Deans, each Dean can choose between 1-3 games weekly.
2.1 If two Deans choose identical games, then that game will be considered a "two pointer".
2.2 If a Dean does not send in his choices on time, then the Commissioner will replace his picks with games from a conference not represented by CKS. If a Dean misses 3 times in a year, then his job will be stripped immediately.
2.3 At the end of each season, we may have one change of Deans. If a non-Dean, with a minimum of one year's experience, makes a request to become a Dean, he/she will replace the Dean who finished the lowest* of the Six Dean Panel. If more than one non-Dean requests a position, then it will be based on CKS seniority and then Total Sports seniority. If that is a tie, then the Panel will vote.
2.31*To determine the "lowest" Dean, the following criteria will be utilized. A) Overall head-to-head record B) Points scored C) Power points accumulated D) Picks Record E) Record picking own conference F) League vote
2.4 A Dean may switch conference affiliations during the off-season if desired. However, they must play a year as an independent and then get voted in by that conference he wishes to play in. (More than 1 "no" vote is considered a rejection.) Also, a team cannot leave a conference that only has a total of 3 member schools.
3.0Each week, every participant will pick all 12 games offered by the Deans. The Deans' choices will be on the main CKS page. The schedule will NOT be emailed out to players. It is the player's responsibility to check the site weekly.
3.1 A point spread will be used, when picking games. If the team you pick wins (with the spread), you get one point. For those rare "two pointers", you would receive two points. If you lose or tie, you recieve 0 points.
3.2 Each season a team will have 12 bonuses to use. They can be used at any time, at any frequency during the regular season. However, a road team can only use a maximum of one bonus. The home team may use as many bonuses as desired, as long as he/she has bonuses remaining.
3.21 A bonused game will give you one extra point if you win that game. There are no penalties for having a bonused team losing.
3.22Each player will designate one of their home games as "Homecoming". The home team gets an extra bonus to be used only for that game. This bonus is not part of the allocated 12 you get for the season.
4.1Any ties in the conference standings will be broken by the following critera: a) head-to-head record b) strength of conference schedule (if more than 4 teams in conference) c) BCS Ranking
5.0Final standings will based on the following criteria: (a) The top 2 teams will be the participants of the BCS Championship Game. (b) The winners of the other bowls will finish right below those two teams. Tie-breaking is based on BCS ranks prior to bowls. (c) Teams that lost their bowls games will be the next finishers. (d) Those not participating in the bowls will round out the standings.
5.1Final standings will also be used to determine each team's power ranking for the upcoming season. The final standings will be sliced into fifths. (In cases where we don't have equal fifths, the larger pieces will be concentrated in the middle). The top fifth will gain two stars. The second fifth will gain one star. The middle fifth will remain the same. The fourth fifth will lose one star. The lowest fifth will lose two stars.
6.0Along with the Commissioner's help, each member will be partly responsible for devising its own schedule. Prior to each season, a player will indicate to the Commissioner which teams he/she would like to send an "invitation" to play. The number of invitations alloted is based on the number of available spots, from 0-4.
6.1If you invite a player to a game, and they invite you- then at least one game is scheduled. Use the criteria below:
6.11When sending invitations to other players to schedule future games, a player's liftime rating comes into play. (ie. the number of stars they have, also used for BCS). Teams will be divided into 3 pods based on the number of stars they have. The Upper pod, middle pod, and lower pod are the three.
If a game is scheduled between two teams of the same pod- then they will have a home-and-home series for the next two seasons.
If a game is scheduled between two teams that are separated by one level of pod (Upper is one level away from middle, middle is one level away from lower), then a 2 for 1 schedule is created. The higher rated team gets two home games and the lower rated team gets one home game over the next three seasons.
If a game is scheduled between an upper and lower pod, then the upper pod team gets one game at home. The lower pod gets no home game.
6.2If you invite a player to a game, and they do not reciprocate, then the following steps occur. All "returned" invitations are placed in a box. When creating the final schedule, the Commissioner will fill empty spots by pulling out an invitation from the box randomly. If both of those teams have at least one spot remaining in their schedule, then 1 game is created for just that year-irregardless of what pod each team is in. The team that sent out the invitation is the visiting team. If all invitations are removed from the box and empty spots in the schedule remains, then its up to the Commissioner to determine remaining matchups.
6.3Along with the Commissioner's help, each member will be partly responsible for devising its own schedule.
