Roy's Rants
7/21/08-Just a few random ramblings as I get ready to head to the Great White
North of Cape Breton and away from this God-awful heat and humidity. 73
degrees in Halifax today- sweet!
I watched my annual hour of pro golf yesterday at the end of the
British Open and saw nothing to change the fact that I'd rather see an
overtime scoreless soccer game than someone else playing golf; it's
hard enough having to watch myself play!
Kudos to Padraig Harrington; he earned the victory on his own merits
despite Greg Norman's turning into a pumpkin Sunday. It's not like The
Shark really needed the prize money.
Some pseudo-experts are saying that Harrington's victory was tainted
because of Tiger's absence. B.S.- Edrick played last year and
Harrington won it though I don't doubt that there was some very good
reason for Woods not winning. It's actually quite refreshing not seeing
Tiger's name in every sentence written about golf.
What was the newly crowned Greatest American Golfer, Kenny Perry, doing
in Milwaukee this weekend? I'm sure his presence sold a couple dozen
extra tickets there but I'd have liked to see him go up against the big
boys at The Open. Guess he's allergic to Majors.
And finally, the best thing about the British Open is that it's a sure
sign of NFL training camps opening soon.
Hit 'em straight and if you can't do that bring lots of beer with you.
