| Being of Canadian blood, hockey is far and away my favorite sport. I, and almost all my relatives, live and die with the fortunes of the Montréal Canadiens with the one exception being a cousin who is, sadly, a Leafs fan. We figure that he must have been dropped on his head as a baby. The Hamilton Bulldogs was an easy choice as a team name as they are the AHL affiliate of the Habs. My favorite hockey moments were being in attendance as the Canadiens skated around the old Boston Garden in 1977 and 1978 with the Stanley Cup. I also went to the first two games in Montréal and Toronto of the epic 1972 Canada-Russia Summit Series. Along with the "Miracle on Ice" in Lake Placid, that series was one of the great moments in the history of ice hockey. My all-time favorite player was Yvan "The Roadrunner" Cournoyer whose record (and I know they don't keep stats for this) for being offside will never be broken! Allez, Les Habitants! | ![]() |
